Welsh Aqueduct Now World Heritage Site

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in northeast Wales has been awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO. Built in the early 19th century by Thomas Telford, the aqueduct is an engineering feat, with lightweight iron arches strong enough to carry the Pontcysyllte Canal. The work inspired similar designs across the world.
