‘Murder on the Orient Express’ Strikes Again
Love David Suchet as Agatha Christie’s great Belgian detective Hercule Poirot in the MASTERPIECE Mystery! Series? He’s back with three new episodes on PBS, and one is a remake of “Murder on the Orient-Express.”
An hour before the showing July 7, Suchet—sans Poirot’s mustache, accent and prissy walk—will board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express to explore the history of the train and learn that Agatha Christie recreated the precise layout and cabin details of the train in her Murder on the Orient Express. She also drew on an actual incident in the snow to provide the setting for Poirot’s test of skill.
The PBS schedule:
• July 7: David Suchet on the Orient-Express: A Masterpiece Special (special 60 minutes; all other episodes 90 minutes)
• July 11: Hercule Poirot: “Murder on the Orient Express”
• July 18: Hercule Poirot: “Third Girl”
• July 25: Hercule Poirot: “Appointment with Death”
• August 1: Hercule Poirot: “Cat Among the Pigeons” (Encore)
