Mateys! Sign on to Aid Mary Rose Appeal
Fans of King Henry VIII’s flagship the Mary Rose can contribute to the Mary Rose 500 public appeal, which will help build a new museum for the salvaged shipwreck in time for the London Olympics in 2012. The new wooden building at Plymouth Historic Dockyard, clad in timber planks, will replace the current temporary museum, which has space to display only 1/20th of the 19,000 artifacts recovered with the ship—including Europe’s oldest fiddle and bow. The existing museum is open during construction.
